MIND

The capacity of the mind is as great as great that of space. It is infinite, neither round nor square, neither great nor small, neither green nor yellow, neither red nor white, neither above nor below, neither long nor short, neither angry nor happy,
Neither right nor wrong, neither good nor evil, neither first nor…. Intrinsically our transcendental nature is void and not a single dharma (Truth) can be attained. It is the same with the essence of mind, which is a state of ‘ Absolute void’

-Wei Lang

Do you make efforts in the practice of the way, master? Master: yes, I do.
Q. How? master: When hungry, I eat; when tired, I Sleep.
Q. And does everybody make the same efforts as you do, master? master: when they are eating, they think of a hundred kinds of necessities, and when they are going to sleep they ponder over affairs of a thousand different kinds. That is how they differ from me.

-Hui Hai

"It is like an image reflected in a mirror, it is seen but it is not real; the one mind is seen as a duality by the ignorant when it is reflected in the mirror constructed by our memory… the existence of the entire universe is due to memory that has been accumulated since the beginning less past but wrongly interpreted."

-Lankavatara Sutra

"The self never undergoes change; the intellect never possesses consciousness. But when one sees this entire world, he is deluded into thinking ‘ I am the seer, I am the knower.’ mistaking one’s self for the individual entity, like the rope mistaken for the snake, one is overcome with fear. If one knows oneself not as the individual but as the Supreme Self, one becomes free from fear."

-Shankara

"Thought creates a division between what is and what should be, and on this division morality is based; but neither the moral not the immoral know love. This moral structure, created by the mind to hold social relationship together,is not love, but a hardening process like that of cement, The very activity of the mind is a barrier to its own understanding."

-J. Krishnamurthi

"The mind needs occupation. The mind needs that you should forget yourself be occupied with something. This is an escape from the innate truth."

-Osho

"Every time a thought is born, you are born. When the thought is gone, you are gone. But the ‘you’ does not let the thought go. and what gives continuity to this ‘you’ is thinking. Actually there’s no permanent entity in you, no totality of all your thoughts and experiences. You think that there is somebody’who is feeling your feelings- that’s the illusion. I can say it is illusion but it is not an illusion to you. Where are the thoughts located? They are not in the brain. Thoughts are not manufactured by the brain. It is, rather, that the brain is like an antenna, picking up thoughts on a common thought-sphere."

-U.G. Krishnamurthi MYSTICISM
